Ride Description:

Exit Las Vegas North on 1-15 to 93 / Great Basin Hwy. Two lane hwy through Narrow Desert Valleys to the east of the military test site / area 51. Exit right SR168 @ Coyote Springs which is a golf course in the middle of the desert. 168 to Moapa winds through desert hills. Nice stretch of road where traffic is almost non-existent prior to entering Moapa. There is a gas station just north of where the 168 hits the 15.

Proceed north on the 15 exiting a few miles up on N Moapa Valley Blvd which travels through Longdale > Overton. There are a few restaurants and bars along this stretch that are popular stops amongst riders. This is a good mid way / stopping point for the route and the only place with services.

SR169 / Northshore road then heads south past the Valley of Fire State park with desert rock formation, lake and mountain views along the way.

This entire road was recently repaved as of 2009. Lots of turnouts and stopping points along the way. Gravel does have a tendency to wash out on roadway after rainstorms. This is BLM land and tickets are expensive so watch your speed.
