Ride Description:

3 Day trip east of Phoenix to old route 666 / Devils Hwy in Eastern Arizona and New Mexico. Ride takes you through some of the most scenic areas of the states with lots of variety of desert and mountain terrain.

Day 1 ... exit AZ east from the open desert into the Alpine forest. Ride through canyons ascending to the Top-Of-The-World then pass along some huge open mining pits into Globe. Continue north with a bypass through Whiteriver then on the 260 to Springerville. Lodging available here.

Day 2 ... exit Springerville south on the 180 to 78 west returning north on the 191. Expect a 9000' elevation change along this protion of the route with twisty roads and postcard views along the entire ride.

Day 3 ... Travel the high desert along SR60 to Show Low then enter the Sitgreaves National Forest on the 260 to Payson. Return to the Scottsdale area on the 87. Lots of points of interest along the last leg of this route.

Due to drastic elevation changes and mountain terrain check weather prior to riding and pack accordingly. Guided tours of this route are available via the Arizona Motorcycle Touring Center including motorcycle rentals. Details here: http://www.azride.com/rt666.html
