Ride Description:
The North Cascades Pass is an excellent motorcycle journey with Winthrop, WA as a destination. Winthrop is extremely motorcycle-friendly and is an old-west themed town complete with wood plank sidewalks, mercantile-type stores and good biker-friendly bars and breweries.
Late spring through early fall the pass is clear, always check online to make sure it's not closed if you're early or late in the year.
Fuel and food stops should be listed at "average" - they're not horribly infrequent but they're a bit spartan.
Incredible scenery will make this a longer trip for you... because you'll have to pull over at scenic dams, lakes, and mountain views to take pictures and gawk.
The peak will be cold if it is not mid-summer. Winthrop is HOT by mid-summer, be prepared to add and remove layers. Plan to spend the night either hotel or camping - it's too much to go over and back in one day.
