Ride Description:

Meet at Latimer Lake Park in Horn Lake, MS. Loop around to Horn Lake Rd and head south to the first double S. Excellent turns here. Occasionally a tiny bit of gravel in the last left, but not enough to be a problem. Further down Horn Lake Rd, a sweeping right usually has a tiny bit of gravel, but also never enough to be a problem. Continue on Horn Lake Rd for a few more curves. When Horn Lake Rd empties into Nesbit Rd, turn left then right and continue on Horn Lake Rd. There is almost always gravel at this intersection, but you will see it well in advance and it is a slow right turn, so just ease through it. Horn Lake Rd ends at Dean Rd. Turn left, and prepare for a banked, downhill, hard left curve. It's easy to come in too hot on this turn, and you won't be able to see if there is any oncoming traffic, so slow down. Try not to overshoot this, as there is nowhere to go except into the ditch. The next curve is great, and there is a clear line of sight. Feel free to use both lanes! Turn left on Tulane, go about 100 yards, then turn right back onto Dean. This straight is great for opening it up or practicing your rear wheel skills. No side streets, clear line of sight! Just be careful on windy days. At the stop sign, turn right on Odom and hit the loop just south of I-69. I prefer to run it counter-clockwise, but either way works. Beware of the occasional slow moving vehicle out here. If you need a break, turn right on Robertson and head toward Hernando. Turn right on 51, and there is a great ice cream / burger place on the left called Velvet Cream. When you're done, get back to Robertson Rd, finish that loop, & cross back over I-69. You will come to a banked hard right curve, then head out to 51 & turn left. Left on Starlanding, then left on Gwynn. After the small S curve, turn right on Nesbit Rd. Big sweeping S curve ahead. Try not to have any cars in front of you on this one, you're gonna want to be able to open it up a little here. Turn left on Tulane to get back on Dean and head west, cross 301, and continue down Baldwin. An option here would have been to take a right on Tulane, left on Starlanding, cross 301 and get on Wilson Mill Rd, a great twisty road which ends on 301 just south of Baldwin. Unfortunately, the last time I was on Wilson Mill, the end of it was all tore up with a ton of gravel, so I'd avoid it until the road gets repaired. On to Baldwin. On the map this looks like just a straight road, but it's up & down hills with big trees on each side that make you feel like you're in a tunnel on a rollercoaster. Very fun, but keep the speed respectable. Line of sight is very limited, there are a few driveways, and the possibility of a big tree limb in the road could cause a problem. After the hills, it opens up to sweepers on top of the bluff with a great view of the Mississippi Delta. A steep downhill left then a hard right (with a little gravel) puts you on Highway 61 (also there's a gas station right here). Turn left to head to the casinos, or right to head toward Memphis. One street north is Nail Rd, which will take you back to Latimer Lake Park.
