This is a really nice lazy ride. Hwy 72 is 4 lane from Huntsville to Scottsboro. Going up over Sand Mountain is really nice and traveling between Sand Mountain and Lookout Mountain is of course very scenic. Valley Head is a small quaint town, good photo opportunities. Going up Lookout Mountain to Mentone is a decent grade the roads are well kept and it should be a breeze.
Once your in Mentone there are some touristy shops and deli's you can have a great lunch atop Lookout. For the traveler who might to see a little more you can Scenic Dr out of Mentone and just north on Lookout Mountain.
