Ride Description:

Two day trip from Las Vegas circumnavigating the Grand Canyon and returning through Zion / St George.

Exit Las Vegas on hwy 93 over the Hoover Dam to Kingman. Once in Kingman take the hwy 40 east. Look at Route 66 as an alternative route for about 100 miles that you can take almost all the way to Ashfork (mapped) ... going this way only ads about 13 miles to the ride and is much more scenic. After getting back on hwy 40 east Take hwy 64 north past williams which turns into hwy 180 going into the Grand Canyon Park Headquarters. The park entrance fee is $25 per car and $12 per motorcycle which is good for 7 days (2007).

To find hotel accomidations go to: http://www.grandcanyon.com/

When you leave the Grand Canyon you take the E Rim Dr / hwy 64 which connects with hwy 89 north. Hwy 89 between Marble Canyon and Fredonia has unbelievable Grand Canyon scenery. From Fredonia you want to take hwy 389 through the polygamist cult town of Colorado City (its not recommended to stop here). Continue on hwy 59 to Hurricane where you briefly get on hwy 9 to hwy 15 into St George. From here you have about 115 miles of desert canyon highway back to Las Vegas.

The Zion Park / St George area does get cold in the winter so plan accordingly.
