Ride Description:

From Alton to Hardin on the Great River Road!

One of the best rides in Illinois with the mighty Mississippi at your side. Beautiful Limestone bluffs take you winding to historic Grafton for great food and gas on your first stop. However, don't forget to check out the Piasa bird on the right as soon as you leave Alton. Piasa harber offers gas and sundries before Grafton.

After leaving the city of Grafton make it a point to turn right at Pere Marqette State park entrance and ride up to one of the highest points in Illinois at the Eagles nest lookout and Lovers leap. Fantastic vista's of the valley below. After leaving Pere Marquette head back out and turn right the river road and take a left at the T and cross the Joe Page lift bridge into Hardin. Hang a right in Hardin and head up 2 or 3 miles to the Bear Foot Reastaraunt. Fantastic food awaits you with views of the river available while you dine. I recomend the catfish fritter platter. Mmmm Mmmm good.

If you want to take a different route back to Alton, head back towards Hardin and go straight past the Page bridge staying left and you will meet up with the Brussels Ferry that will take you back across the river to the River road for your return trip to Alton. Ride safe and keep the breeze to your knees!
