Ride Description:

Colorado Hwy 5 to Mt Evans is the highest paved road in the United States. Beginning just past the east entrance of Lake Echo Park on route 103, this route takes you from a starting altitude 7,500' to 14,264' in just 14 miles. Due to altitude hwy 5 is only open during Summer months. Carbureted motorcycles beware.

As of 2008 the roadway up Hwy 5 is slightly bumpy on the bottom but the pavement gets smooth as you go up. Expect to take your time as the roads have steep drop offs just past the shoulder. Spectacular mountain views across the state of CO on clear days.
