Ride Description:

From Brunswick, head south on 123 into Harpswell. Watch for the signs and turn left onto Mountain Rd. At the intersection with 24, head north to Cook's Corner and take Rt. 1 North to Bath. Take the High St. exit and turn south. Follow the signs for 209. Eventually, 209 turns left and 216 continues straight. Make the left on 209 towards Ft. Popham. The speed limit is 40 here and that's a good pace. Watch for a sign saying "sharp right, 25 MPH" That is a 90-degree right at the bottom of a downhill lefthand sweeper. Be very careful. Continue to follow 209. You can go to Popham Beach State Park and pay money, or you can follow 209 until it ends and visit historic Fort Popham for free. Fort Popham has food, parking, and a beach. Both Fort Popham and Popham Beach are popular tourist destinations during the summer.
