Ride Description:

This is a long day but worth every minute. Head north out of Tucson toward Globe and then from Globe up 77 through the Salt River Canyon. Awesome road with lots of great sweepers but watch for LEO.

Then take a little detour through Fort Apache Reservation whilst on your way to Alpine. The diner in Alpine has good food or you can also stop in Hannigan Meadow for a good burger if it's a weekend.

191 from Alpine to Morenci is the twistiest road in the US and used be numbered 666 and called the Devil's Highway. It's also know as the Coronado Trail b/c it follows the route Spanish explorer Coronado took while looking for the mythical cities of gold. In Morenci, you'll ride through one of the largest open pit mines in the US and it's quite a site - beautiful and terrible at the same time. Then head on back to Tucson for steaks.
