Ride Description:
This is the most direct route to the Valley of Fire state park that returns via the NW side of Lake Mead (minimal lake views) and re-enters Las Vegas from the East.Exit Las Vegas North on hwy 15 (See gas station on SE side of Speedway Blvd Exit for meeting spot).
Proceed 22 miles to hwy 169 / Valley of Fire Hwy. Take hwy 169 about 12 miles to State Park toll both ($6 - sometimes on the honor system to bring exact change). Proceed another 5 miles and look for Valley of Fire entrance / visitor center on the left (north). Valley Of Fire Park (Mouses Tank Rd to White Dome Rd) road is a scenic 2 lane road that extends 6 miles back into the valley. Watch for light gravel and tight / off camber turns. Exit heading east on hwy 169 about 5 miles to hwy 167 and head South. Take hwy 167 SW for 43 miles. Beware of poor road condition for the first 10 -15 miles (roadway under construction 2007). Exit the park via hwy 147 / East Lake Mead Blvd exit.
