Hwy 89A south ascends down from Flagstaff to Sedona and is known for having some of the most beautiful scenery in the southwest. Road is in good condition with nice corners and altitude change along the way.
Expect traffic from tourists esp on weekends and holidays and pay attention to drivers watching the scenery instead of the road. Plenty of view points, places to stop, and things to do and see along the ride including places to hike and swim.
