Ride Description:
Great ride through Custer State park taking you to the famous Mt Rushmore. Roads are well maintained, lots of switch backs and nice turns throughout. Newer riders might want to take it easy first time through. Beautiful canyon scenery throughout as well as tunnels and great view points so bring a camera.
Exit Rapid City south through Keystone. Lots of small shops to visit here on the way in or the return leg of the ride. Take route 244 through the Mt Rushmore National Memorial, past pine creek and eventually to 385 road where you turn left. In about 1/4 mile make another left on 87 / Palmer Creek Rd. Be sure to stay to the left at the 87 / 89 fork and make a left when 87 ends at 16. Stay on the 16 back around the park and into Rapid City.
There is also lots of hiking, camping, and fishing along this route for those looking to take the extra time exploring the area.
